The UWM Professional Education Portfolio is a requirement
of Wisconsin’s PI 34 for all candidates graduating after August
31, 2004 who are seeking licensure. The portfolio serves as an important
tool to demonstrate and reflect upon your professional development with
respect to Wisconsin’s professional education standards and national
standards for your selected profession. As you complete key stages of
your program, you will be asked to select artifacts (products from classes
and your fieldwork) and write reflections that demonstrate your increasing
proficiency in your profession. Your portfolio will be reviewed by program
faculty at midpoint and completion to ensure that you have sufficiently
met the standards established for your profession.
A UWM ePortfolio
will gradually take the place of the “binders” that candidates
have been submitting for portfolio review. Some programs have begun to
use the ePortfolio. By Fall, 2008, all new UWM professional education
students will be using the ePortfolio. You will learn about whether the
ePortfolio version is required of you as you begin your specific program.
The UWM ePortfolio
is a web-based portfolio system supported through LiveText (www.livetext.com),
a well-established and widely-used system. Purchasing an electronic portfolio
subscription will be a requirement, like purchasing a required textbook
for a course. The one-time cost of $89 includes a subscription that lasts
the length of your program at UWM plus one additional year.
